Stress isn't all bad for you. We have natural bodily functions and systems in place to help us for all sorts of situations throughout out lives. The kicker is that we need to have a balance of stress and the feeling of safety. When our bodies are stressed, chemicals get released to protect us. When safe, another set of chemicals offset the stress chemicals to essentially wash them away. It is very common, especially in the Western world that the imbalance that plagues us if a stress overload - that is, when there are way more stress experiences than relaxation/safe/non-stressful experiences that cause us to become overly-tired, sick, injured, short-tempered, overweight, restless, not able to sleep, and then some.
Relaxation, through way of the physical body such as massage, chiropractic, stretching, yoga, weight lifting, and countless other modalities, are some of the remedies to decrease, of help manage our stressed experiences.
